This year marks a special milestone for Clinton County children. Over 5 years, we have been able to enroll 72% of our children into the Dolly Parton Imagination Library book gifting program. That equals 1,708 children enrolled and 1,625 graduates from the program. All of that equals 78,709 books mailed to children in Clinton County. This program is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading in children.
To recognize this achievement, we are hosting a FREE event Friday, March 28 at the Murphy Theatre. We will be a showing the documentary “The Library that Dolly Built” at 7:00 pm. Charlie’s will open at 5:00 and will feature a special Dolly cocktail. Register here.
The movie goes behind the scenes of Dolly Parton’s literacy-focused non-profit, Imagination Library, to show how one of the most famous and beloved performers in the world has developed an efficient and effective program for spreading the love of reading.
In Clinton County, community partners are central to our success: our local libraries, Air Transport Services Group, the Clinton County Foundation, and important donors like Bruce and Dorothy Henry.
- Join us as we celebrate:
- The love of reading.
- The joy of book ownership.
- The hope that as families share books together that bonds are being formed.
- The knowledge that reading positively impacts brain development.
- The hope that children in Clinton County are better prepared to learn as they start school all because of the reading that they did as young children prior to starting school.
