The Clinton County Foundation wishes to welcome Laura Knisley, Endocrinology Nurse Practitioner, Kettering Health System, to our board of directors. Laura brings over 24 years of experience in the field of nursing and health education to the Foundation. In her current position, Laura manages complex diabetes and chronic disease. She began her career as a Registered Nurse at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Obstetrics and Diabetes Education. Past positions include working as a Registered Dietitian/Diabetes Educator for the Clinton County Health District and as a Nurse Practitioner for TriHealth and the Highland County Community Action Reproductive Wellness Clinics. Throughout her career, Laura has focused on empowering and educating patients and co-workers on diabetes management, nutrition, and women’s health.

While born in Kentucky, Laura’s family moved to Hillsboro when she was just two. A graduate of Hillsboro High School, she raised her own family in Lynchburg where her children attended and graduated from high school. In 2021 Laura became an official resident of Wilmington. Her close ties to the community through family and work have inspired her to become involved with the Clinton County Foundation.

She has volunteered extensively for such organizations as the Ohio Medical Reserve Corp, Wright State University MPH Program and has served on the board of the Ohio Lactation Consultant Association. Her work has also been recognized with the 2019 Distinguished Health Educator Service Award from the Ohio Public Health Association and the 2016 Member of the Year award from the Ohio Lactation Consultant Association.

Laura is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, a Family Nurse Practitioner, a Registered Dietitian, Board-Certified Advanced Diabetes Management, a Certified Diabetes Educator, and an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. She holds the following degrees: both a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University; a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Northern Colorado; and an Associate of Science Nursing from Southern State Community College.
